I would like to nominate Lynne Frady for the Featured Women Bowhunter. Lynne is an outstanding ambassador for women in the sport of hunting, especially in the archery division
~Lisa Metheny
Little did Lynne Frady know while she was toddling around thru the Blue Ridge Mountain in her early childhood that her life would truly be devoted to the great outdoors. Her story reads like a wilderness novel, with her humble and simple beginnings surrounded by trout streams and mountains. Lynne tromped thru the moss-covered woodlands chasing her brother and following closely behind her father, observing every little detail and learning every little trick that they would show her. Years later Lynne would continue to develop her love of the outdoors. Turning her childhood lifestyle into a profession, Lynne now trains gun dogs, teaches numerous archery and hunter education classes, conducts seminars and training sessions and with her husband Jim running an archery pro shop.
Lynne is probably best known for her archery skills. With an early need to learn to judge yardage better, Lynne began her archery career among the 3D courses in North Carolina. With the help of her coach and husband Jim, Lynne went on to win five consecutive women’s regional titles and earned the 1998 North Carolina State championship. Lynne was not only garnering trophies and titles she was building a reputation as one of the best female archers in the region and quickly gaining respect from fellow archers all while building and implementing outdoor programs for the women and children of the area and most importantly she was blazing a path for other women to follow.
Those of us that know Lynne personally count her as a friend, mentor and leader. The old adage that actions speak louder than words ring true for Lynne, her actions have indeed spoken loud and clear to those in the industry. Lynne and her husband Jim have devoted countless hours to teaching archery, and hunter education classes in their native North Carolina. Too many students to count have passed thru their courses and it is know doubt that Lynne has made a major impact on the youth of this area. Industry leaders such as Realtree®, Mathews® and Danner® have also taken notice of this outstanding woman and dedicated leader, Lynne sits on many pro staffs and advisory staffs, and is grateful for their support. But that is not what it is about for Lynne, spend a little time with Lynne and you quickly can see her true passion. Lynne is no phony in fact she is the real deal. Eager to share her knowledge with others and quick to serve others has garnished Lynne one of the highest honor in the archery business. At the 2007 Archery Trade Association’s annual show, Muzzy did honor the Frady’s with their annual Tall Man Award. This award is given to an individual who exemplifies great character and great commitment to the world of archery and is awarded to those who had given selfless devotion to the next generation. Lynne and Jim garnered this award simply because they practice what they preach.
